Re-building their township

Kids and youth club started to keep the young ones off the street.

The high usage of drugs and teenage pregnancy in Velani township has pushed the ward committee to open a kids and youth club.

The children and youth of Velani township will meet every Saturday at the community hall from 1pm to 2pm.

Ward committee member Lindiwe Khoza said they are trying to prevent children from hanging on the streets and they will organise motivational speakers to come and speak with the youth.

“Not only motivational speakers but people from different organisations that will come and share ideas with them on how to succeed in life,” said Khoza.

Khoza said they appeal to the community to please help them with chairs, tables and toys for the children.

“We have about 300 children and about 25 of the youth attending the club sessions. The number will grow as we progress with the club,” said Khoza.

They also thanked Dolphin Coast Taxi Association for donating money and that money was used to buy food for the children on Saturday, July 25.

You can call Khoza on 073 739 1701.
