You reap what you sew!
Community urged to donate old material for ladies to use in sewing classes.
Sewing machines buzz every Tuesday and Thursday when ladies come together and form The Sewing Circle at the Salt Rock library.
Ros Burgess teaches the ladies sewing skills with the idea that everyone can go home and become more self-reliant, supplementing their income with the beautiful blankets they create.
Most of the women are domestic workers in the Salt Rock, Shaka’s Rock and Ballito area.
Four boxes of T-shirt fabric were donated to the Rotary Anns of Ballito Rotary Club by the Verhagen’s of Durban North for distribution to a worthy cause in the area.
The Sewing Circle and Ros Burgess are an enthusiastic and active group and Rotary Ann, Frances Lever encourage anyone else in the Ballito or Salt Rock area who has leftover, ends of line fabric to consider donating it to the group.
