Pet sterilisation project for Dolphin Coast

Residents can get their pets sterilised and vaccinated.

Two local non-profit organisations, Furever Pet Rescue and Animally Haven, have partnered with various local businesses to launch the first Pet Sterilisation Project.

The goal of this grassroots program will be two-fold.

Not only will the project address the issue of unwanted births of puppies with the sterilisation of females, but also educate pet owners on common issues such as mange, regular vaccinations and proper feeding.

The organisers hope that this will be the first of many projects serving the area where animals are at high-risk for unwanted pregnancies and diseases.
The project will be launched this Saturday, August 23 from 10am at the Community Hall in Etete.

Residents will be asked to bring their dogs to register.
Each registrant will be given a packet of dry pet food and information.
The vets on site, with volunteer assistance where required, will treat the animal for mange if required. Then they will give each animal a vaccination shot and de-worming tablet.
If they are healthy enough, females will be sterilised.
