Ladies motivated to cultivate a fertile environment in business.
Hirsch’s Ballito and the Ilembe Woman in Business recently held their monthly woman’s meeting at the Urban Kitchen where Veronica O’Dwyer was named the Margaret Hirsch Woman in Business Achiever finalist for August.
Veronica is the director of litigation for Schulz Wiesinger O’Dwyer as well as the chairperson of the KwaDukuza Attorneys Association.
Apart from law, she has a passion for education as before she entered the legal profession, she was a teacher.
“I am completely dedicated to the idea that the education and promotion of girls and woman is essential to the economic, social and psychological well-being of any society,” she said.
CEO of the John Maxwell Leadership Company, Russel van Rensburg joined the meeting to motivate the ladies.
He explained that feedback is one of the most vital aspects in business and a fertile environment within the business has to be cultivated.
“Create a culture of encouragement by recognising the good in people.”
He said people should be proactive in creating relationships of trust.
Van Rensburg also said it is good to show your vulnerability.
“Let people know that you are aware of your flaws, it is very likely that they already know what they are! Your weaknesses create a human element.”
“Create a sense of belonging and show people that you believe in them, even if they disappoint you. Put a 10 on their head. If you expect them to be a 1 that is all you will ever see in them.”
He said business people should also not always live in the reality of the now.
“It is good to imagine so visualise where you want go!”
