Referees can go from hero to zero
South African referee gives some insight to what happens on the field.
Recently Hirsch Ballito held their monthly Networking Morning with South African rugby referee Marius Jonker.
Rather than having a formal presentation Marius opted for a question and answer forum where networkers were able to ask any questions they liked.
Jonker explained that players, as well as referees, can go from hero to zero or vice versa in just 80 minutes, that’s all it takes.
Avid rugby supporters were dying to know how he copes with the pressure of disappointed fans.
“You just have to be true to yourself – sometimes you mess up, but there is always an opportunity to fix it next time,” said Jonker.
