Double armed robbery in Ballito
The tenant interrupted the criminals at work.
A group of armed robbers swooped in on two properties in the Ballito area in the space of an hour between 9.30am and 10.30am this morning.
Viva Security’s JP Viljoen said the robbers were interrupted at a house in Zen Drive, Ballito when a tenant unexpectedly returned home from work.
Arriving home, the tenant found the gate open and a black Citi Golf reversed into the driveway.
About six armed men ran out of the house with guns pointed at the tenant.
The tenant quickly reversed to get out of their way and followed the getaway car as it sped off.
He followed them to the M4 where he managed to get a registration number before they got away.
Meanwhile, another tenant alerted Viva Security who established that the black Citi Golf had been fitted with lifted number plates that belong to a white Citi Golf.
Within 20 minutes the same vehicle was seen fleeing the scene of another armed robbery in Seatides, about ten kilometres south of Ballito.
No arrests have been made and no injuries reported.
