Helpless homeless hounds

Ballito Kennels is full of loving, adult dogs, who promise to be your best friend if you give them a good home this Christmas.

With the recent successful re-homing of Alfie and Layla, who had both been waiting for homes for over a year, Puppy SOS’ David Hanson hopes the others will also soon have a happy ending.

Hanson’s heart breaks when he pats Bob and Ben’s heads through the kennel bars, knowing that they will have to leave next month.

“With the holiday season around the corner, the Ballito Kennels will need all the space they have for their clients, so from December 1, the strays will have to go,” said Hanson, who is dedicated to saving the friendly four paws.

As he walks past the kennels, Bonjovi, sweet Hannah senior and Stallone beg for attention.

“Stallone is a very special, incredibly lovable one-and-a-half-year-old medium sized Labrador mix. He had a traumatic experience, when he made the “mistake” of walking into someone’s yard, where boiling water was thrown over him. Despite this, he is very social and good with other dogs, although he might not know cats.”

His kennel mate is a two-year-old German Shepherd mix called Hannah, who has the most loving eyes and longs to be part of a caring family.

“She had been living at a bus stop shelter for over a month before she was rescued. She is happy around bigger dogs, but gets a little irritated with the ankle biters.”

There are many more charming doggies waiting for their new family to pick them up and give them the forever home they deserve.
