At the point of a spear
There will be a chill zone with craft beer stalls and TVs to catch up on the rugby or Tour de France.
Mountain bikers, get ready for the Wagon & Spear weekend stage event, taking you on an adventure through never before cycled routes from July 1 to 3 in the Glendale Valley.
The three-day stage event race is a Camelot Events initiative. Director, Cameron Service, said the North Coast has been lacking an event of this kind for a while.
“Wagon & Spear will do everything differently to other races and will be an unique event to our area. The Glendale valley is beautiful and has so much potential for great trails,” said Service, who will be building the routes.
The first day will start gently, with a roughly 10km race to find the hidden spear, which will give the winner the honour of sleeping in the pimp wagon for the weekend.
Here, you will rest in luxury and have your own runner to make your every wish come true.
The second day requires strong legs, as teams will be working their way up a 2000 meter climb over 80 kilometers.
After a much needed rest, the last day will see you riding 60 kilometers of mostly single track.
“We have three types of accommodation. There is the executive style, which offers en-suite chalets, the glamping option or the straight forward tent living.”
The entry fees include accommodation and food and there is space for 150 double teams. The minimum entry age is 18.
There will be a chill zone with craft beer stalls and TVs to catch up on the rugby or Tour de France and dinners will range from a traditional potjies to an ox on the spit.
Fees range from R5500 per team (R2750 per rider) to R7500 per team (R3750 per rider).
The Wagon & Spear winning team will take R10 000 home, with the runner up taking R6000 and R4000 to the third team.
