Four car pile-up on loose gravel at Esinembe

Roads covered in loose gravel in the Esinembe, Shakaskraal and Glendale areas are a hazard to drivers.

Excess gravel on the Esinembe Road was reportedly behind an accident involving four cars on that road this afternoon.
Previously the Courier reported that due to roadworks gravel is covering the road for about 30kms around the Avon Peaking Power Plant.
The driver of a white Hyundai had a puncture on that road at about 3.45pm and lost control of the vehicle, driving it off the road and down an embankment.
A tow truck was called to assist, and also lost control his vehicle – colliding into an oncoming vehicle, which was then hit by the vehicle behind him.
No one was seriously injured.
Police at the scene said there had been a number of accidents on that road recently.
Avon construction director Pascal Bourdeaux said their employees had been adversely affected.
“We have reported the problem to the transport department and requested that they remedy the situation.”
