An art of painting that is sheer inspiration
At the demonstration Karen will show you how to turn transparent fabric such as silk or organza into a strong, durable painting surface.
Karen Dennyschene will demonstrate the art of painting on sheer fabric on May 14 from 9am to noon, at a morning of creative inspiration presented by North Coast Artists at the Church Hall, 2 Newport Avenue, Virginia (entrance just after Danville High School).
An entrance fee of R40 includes refreshments.
Karen is a versatile artist and art teacher based in her home town, Umhlanga.
She loves to paint and gets inspired by the vivid colours and energy of her natural surroundings.
Her love of art started at an early age which led her to study Graphic Design. She worked in the advertising industry and free-lanced as an illustrator for a publishing company. With this background she developed a love of fine art and started painting.
At the demonstration Karen will show you how to turn transparent fabric such as silk or organza into a strong, durable painting surface.
Her finished artwork retains its transparency and is ideal for layering in collage, for printing on, painting on, sewing, appliques, embellishing with beads or thread. The painting will be washable and permanent and is suitable for fine art or crafts.
She runs regular painting workshops locally and internationally and paints in acrylics, oils and watercolours and enjoys experimenting with mixed media.
With her talent and expertise in all types of media, Karen was asked what she preferred doing, and said, “My signature works are mainly botanicals and anything to do with nature, sometimes with a twist! I love experimenting with techniques and colours and can’t resist a splash of metallic paint here and there. I am inspired by nature’s vivid colours and the beauty and energy of my surroundings.”
June Doveye will give a short talk and demonstration before tea on portrait drawing techniques using a live model.
