Vehicle drives off Maidstone bridge
Paramedics had to be lowered down from the bridge to rescue the driver.
Two vehicles collided on the R102 Maidstone bridge forcing one vehicle to lose control and land on the river bank 30 metres below, earlier this morning.
Witnesses attempted to assist the 25-year-old driver, before police and paramedics were called to the scene.

“Advanced lifting systems were set up, as paramedics had to be lowered down from the bridge using specialised, high angle equipment to gain access to the driver,” said Paul Herbst from IPSS Medical Rescue.
The driver sustained critical injuries and required advanced life support intervention before he was transported to a nearby hospital.
