Feel the beat with Xcentrix at The Ballito Pro

Ballito's SugarDance crews will have you dancing in the street.

When you visit the Fire Up Your Stoke, night of food and wine, on June 29 make sure to watch out for the performance by local studio SugarDance.

Every year this dynamic dance studio sets the bar higher  at The Ballito Pro, blending hip hop and contemporary styles into crowd-pleasing dance numbers.

Kelsey Joubert (17), a member of the most experienced crew, Xcentrix, is performing at The Pro for the third year running.

She is a grade 11 student at Ashton International Collage, and has been a part of SugarDance for four years.

Mainly proficient in hip hop, Joubert is known for her expressive free style.

“Dance allows you to express yourself in a way that cannot be sung or said,” said Joubert.

Her dancing highlights for the year so far include her crew placing second in a recent competition at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, earning a distinction for her hip hop exam and participating in Ashton’s production of The Wizard of Oz.

She is very excited for The Ballito Pro, especially for the free concerts and “hanging out with my friends during the day on the beach.”

Xcentrix is currently preparing for their next competition, the Battle of the Giants at Carnival City in Gauteng.
