Top five samoosas in Ballito

In need of a savoury snack? This is where you will find the best of the best.

Everyone loves those crispy triangles stuffed with goodness that fills the gap at any given time.

We went on a hunt for the best samoosas in town and we have found our five favourites:

 

Berni’s Home Industry and Coffee Shop

They have a sign outside their shop stating that they have the best samoosas… and they do!

You will need a little patience though, as they freshly fry your chosen samoosas, so don’t be in too much of a rush.

Pastry: Beautifully crisp, fresh, not greasy. They also have a special spice topping.

Filling: Moist, rich flavour with a kick that will make you fall in love with samoosas all over again.

Price: At R6 each, they are not the cheapest, but worth every cent.

Where: Top floor of the Ballito Bay Mall, check to Checkers.

TIP: The prawn samoosas are a must!

 

Cindy’s Umhlali Fresh Produce

Everyone’s favourite curry aunty, Cindy Valayadam, is also a samoosa queen.

Pastry: Crispy and not greasy.

Filling: Bursting with flavour, Cindy’s samoosas have a gorgeous blend of flavours with a special selection of spices.

Price: R4 each.

Where: In the heart of Umhlali at the circle.

 

Saffron Food and Spice

You can’t help but grab some samoosas at Saffron on your way out of the Ballito Bay Mall.

Pastry: Not too crispy, but still fresh.

Filling: The flavour is quite good with a little kick.

Price: R4 each.

Where: Top floor of the Ballito Bay Mall.

 

Cafe Rumanah

Friendly service offering spicy delights.

Filling: A little bland and not too hot.

Price: R20 for 6.

Where: Find them on the bottom floor of the Ballito Bay Mall.

 

Chris T’s

New in town, this is a good one to just fill that little hunger gap with their petite samoosas.

Filling: If you are not a sauce fan, Chris T’s is perfect for you.

Price: R3,50 each.

Where: Gregory Park behind the Lifestyle Centre.
