Game wheels 78 children to a brighter future

Game has wheeled 78 mobility impaired children to a brighter future through the donation of custom made wheelchairs.

Over the past 17 years Game has donated 5058 wheel chairs valued at a total of just over R12 million to disabled children nationwide.

The Game Wheelchair Project is run in consultation with the National Council for Persons with Physical Disabilities South Africa (NCPPDSA).

The NCPPDSA administers a national waiting list and identifies the recipients of the wheelchairs.

Game’s Marketing and Customer Director, Mark Turner said, “A wheel chair is a basic need for a person living with physical disabilities. We donate wheel chairs with the objective of granting the children the priceless ability to get on with their daily lives independently. This will ultimately result in them becoming active and well integrated members of the communities in which they live.

“Unsuitable wheelchairs can lead to long term health effects such a postural deformity’s and pressure sores which is why all of the wheelchairs are custom made according to the special needs of each child and they are SABS approved thereby providing suitable support whilst also preventing further deterioration in posture.

“Priority is given to children in disadvantaged communities whose access to education is hampered by the inability to move around freely.

“Through this donation, we aim to ensure that no child is denied a normal childhood and access to education due to disability”, said Turner.

The Game Wheelchair Project forms part of Game’s extensive Corporate Social Investment project.
