Dolphin Coast Striders organise hat trick for charity
Organised by The Dolphin Coast Striders the aim was to bring the community together while raising funds for non-profit organisations, Vision 153 and Puppy SOS.
Sporting a jolly spirit and their best Christmas inspired-headgear, a group of enthusiastic walkers kicked off the festive season at the Charity Hat Walk on Sunday.
Starting at the Salt Rock Country Club, more than 250 people showed up for the five kilometre merry meander.
Happy faces and wagging tales could be seen strolling down the streets of Salt Rock spreading the Christmas cheer.
Organised by The Dolphin Coast Striders the aim was to bring the community together while raising funds for non-profit organisations, Vision 153 and Puppy SOS.
Vision 153 feeds and cares for some 1400 widows and orphans from local communities and Puppy SOS rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes animals.
Striders chairman Barry Holland said they are unsure of how much of money was raised but that R15 000 was donated to Vision 153 and the balance of the money will be donated to Puppy SOS.
“The turnout was better than last year and it was great to see so many people coming on board and supporting the cause. Thank you to Simon and Kim Peacock from RE/MAX Dolphin Realtors for their generous sponsorship,” he said.
