Bakkie driver died in accident on N2

KwaDukuza Fire Department had to use the jaws of life to free the trapped driver from the wreckage.

A man in his 50’s has died following a collision on the N2 northbound, before Ballito  earlier this evening.
“It is alleged that a bakkie travelling on the southbound carriageway lost control in the wet weather,” said IPSS Medical Rescue‘s Paul Herbst.

“The vehicle travelled across the centre median, smashed into another bakkie travelling on the northbound carriage way.
“The driver from the second bakkie was trapped in the wreckage, having sustained critical injuries.
“He was declared dead on arrival of IPSS Medical Rescue personnel.”
KwaDukuza Fire Department had to use the jaws of life to free the trapped driver from the wreckage.
The driver of the first vehicle was lucky to escape with minor injuries.
“We urge all road users to please use caution when driving in wet weather. Reduce your speed and increase following distances, said Herbst.
