The usual reaction when one spots an unwelcome snake in their garden is great shock and panic, followed by contacting the nearest snake catcher.
But for Ballito resident Christine Prodger, her first instinct was to grab her camera and snap a few shots of the ‘friendly’ guest going about its business.
”It seems as though its main attraction was the busy bird feeder that we recently placed in the tree,” said Christine.
Only after contacting security was she informed that the slithery serpent was in fact one of the world’s deadliest snakes – the Green Mamba.

Thankfully local snake catcher Neville Wolmarans of Ndlondlo Reptile Park happened to be in the area at the time of the call-out.
Despite not having his gear on hand at the time, the snake was quickly and ingeniously captured using his crutches.
The fearless Wolmarans lost his leg after being struck by a car while trying to catch a snake on the road.
After a painless battle, the mamba was removed and will now roam free in a more welcome setting.
