UIP looking forward to a busy year
All they have accomplished would not have been possible without contributions from business, the municipality and voluntary input from residents
2017 is already well underway and the Urban Improvement Precinct (UIP) is looking ahead to continue their good work in Ballito. Looking back, the UIP had a busy 2016. “We have completed a variety of special projects,” said Ballito UIP manager Thierry Leclezio.
“The festive period is a very busy time for us and our main focus is ensuring that Ballito is clean, green and safe.”
To this end, the UIP employed additional cleaning and security staff over the period.
“We have also been able to upgrade sections of Ballito such as the promenade, business park, Ballito Drive and the lower Ballito CBD.
“Our security deployments and maintenance crews on the ground have also ensured that we keep Ballito safe and looking good.”
Leclezio confirmed that the UIP does not currently have any plans to expand their operations into the residential areas.
He said that all they have accomplished would not have been possible without contributions from business, the municipality and voluntary input from residents.
The UIP’s primary objective is to ensure that Ballito becomes a highly sought-after investment destination in both the business and tourism sectors, aiming to retain and grow investor confidence. In order to achieve this, the UIP has partnered with KDM by offering supplementary services such as maintenance and security in public open spaces.
“Relationships have been built with the various departments within KDM so that we have integrated service plans. We each have our specific responsibilities to ensure there is no duplication.”
According to Leclezio, it has generally been working well so far.
“A special thank you to KDM for receiving the UIP so well and for working so positively with us to ensure we meet – and hopefully exceed – the general expectations.”
Leclezio appealed to the community to help the make Ballito better.
