Never too young to help
It was a positive end to the year for The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund
This quarter over R100,000 was distributed by The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund!
The committee met on January 19 to make the fund’s quarterly allocations.
The money raised (and distributed) during the months November through to January, is reflected in the table.
Christmas is a time for giving and the figures of the three months over the festive season reflect the generosity of the community we live in.

The popular annual Ballito Open was enjoyed by all who attended.
The golf day, organized by Malcolm Mann, is always oversubscribed with a waiting list of eager holiday golfers.
A major money spinner at the event is the raffle and this year the main prize was a chest freezer donated by Trevor Graham of Whirlpool Isithebe.
The Carol Service at All Souls Anglican church in Umhlali was well supported and we hope this can become an annual event where the collection goes to the Fund. Gaby Lyle donated her delicious Christmas cake for the raffle.
The Christmas Fair Fund contributed R15,000 to the Fund.
How can you help?
We can never say there is nothing we can do, as every little bit counts.
Local grandmother, Barbara Millican is blessed with triplet grandchildren, Elijah, Seth and Harriet.
She has over the past two years been encouraging the three to save their copper coins as a means of teaching them to save, and the value and blessing of giving. She gave each a tin for this purpose.
This was when they were seven, and two years later at nine and a half they had the fun of counting what they had saved and donating it to the Orphan Fund.
The princely sum of R273.30 was collected. Barbara admits that this is not a lot but suggested that if 10 families followed suit it would be over R2,700.
Currently a substantial food parcel costs R210, which makes a real difference in a vunerable child’s life.
A very simple way of contributing at no cost or inconvenience to you is to display a Litres for Education sticker on your car and fill up at BP Ballito or BP Sibaya.
They will donate 10 cents for every litre of fuel you fill to the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund. Collect your sticker from BP or from The Courier offices.
The Orphan Fund is audited and registered as a non-profit organization and has also been approved by the Receiver of Revenue for tax exemption. This means that donors can receive a tax deduction on donations made.
