Tongaat Hulett welcomes strategic appointments
The company’s vision and mission has come into razor-sharp focus over the past few years
Tongaat Hulett Developments announced last week that a number of key executive appointments have been made.
This, according to Managing Director, Michael Deighton, is a pivotal move in the company’s ambitions to accelerate the pace of investment and development in KZN.
Deighton said the company’s vision and mission had come into razor-sharp focus over the past few years.
“It’s time for a radical shift and this is an important milestone in challenging the pace at which we’ve done things until now.
“By instituting this new leadership we are gearing up to drive real and sustainable transformation through our land conversion activities.
“At Tongaat Hulett we are committed to creating real value for all of our stakeholders and actively driving Durban’s vision of becoming Africa’s most caring and liveable city.”
Having earned a reputation as one of SA’s most visionary and effective place-making organisations, Tongaat Hulett Developments is responsible for the creation and promotion of sustainable land use and management practices through the unlocking of strategic land holdings from agriculture for urban transformation.
The new executive leadership, all of whom have come from within the business, has been established to drive strategic portfolios that cover key clusters of activities, with the intention of streamlining and driving transformation of both the organisation itself and the social and economic landscape within which it operates.
“The motivation to do so is immediate and compelling,” Deighton confirmed.
The newly appointed leadership team consists of Bongani Gumede, Karen Petersen, Xoli Shabalala, Rory Wilkinson, Sithembiso Mthembu and Samantha Shukla.
“Given their considerable talent, these new leaders will play a fundamental role in driving our vision to create a radically increased pace and impact across the entire land and development value-chain.”
