Outpouring of generosity for murdered security guard’s family

Moses Makhoba was killed in a shoot-out with five armed men who had broken into the Mangwanani African Spa

A lump sum of almost R40 000 was handed over last week to the mothers of Moses Makhoba’s three children.

Tears of grief and gratitude flowed freely as everyone present was reminded of the tragic murder of the Enforce security guard on August 9 last year.

Makhoba was killed in a shoot-out with five armed men who had broken into the Mangwanani African Spa on Douglas Crowe Drive in the Ballito business park shortly after starting his shift.

Fellow Enforce security officer Xolani Mpanza was the last person to see his friend alive.

“Moses relieved me from my shift and we laughed together like on any other day. It so easily could have been me in his place,” said Mpanza.

Despite their still fresh grief, the three mothers were grateful for the money that was generously donated by people from across the Dolphin Coast community.

Notably, Mangwanani African Spa employees from across the country had contributed a percentage of their salaries every month since the tragedy.

Enforce community projects manager Nikki Mohlmann said pupils at Crawford North Coast had also made sizeable donations.

She said the funds has been administrated by Cox Yeats Attorneys and would be divided equally among the three children.
