Ballito Junction open for business!

There have been no incidents today except for a false alarm where a shopper forgot where her car was parked and reported it stolen

It is day two for the Ballito Junction and shoppers are streaming into the newly opened regional mall.

There have been no incidents today except for one false alarm where a shopper forgot where her car was parked and reported it stolen.

Despite the ANCYL protest march yesterday, opening day was otherwise smooth with people coming out in droves for the opening specials.

The special on flat screen TVs at Game and the many great deals at Checkers were some of the main attractions.

The staff of Checkers welcomed the regional mall with true South African flair.

Just before 8am as the first early bird shoppers were exploring the new mall, the sounds of happy singing turned all eyes to Checkers as their staff marched as one through the halls to open their new store.

Dancing in celebration, they had smiles on the faces of everyone they passed and officially opened the store with a roof raising cheer followed by a rendition of Nkosi Sikelel iAfrika that had onlookers and people in nearby stores spontaneously joining in.

Once the doors were open, shoppers flooded in and were delighted with the stores modern interior and friendly atmosphere.

Speaking at the opening ceremony co-chairman of Flanagan & Gerard, Pat Flanagan, praised the architects for designing such an attractive building and overcoming the many challenges of building on such a steep slope.

He thanked the community for the welcome the new mall had received and The North Coast Courier in particular for the 60-page supplement which showcased the best the mall had to offer.
