Join the fun festivities to save Ndlondlo Reptile Park

All families supporting this initiative will be registered as VIP Supporters of the Ndlondlo Eco Education Centre and will qualify for a 25 % discount on all visits to the centre

In an effort to save the Ndlondlo Reptile Park that has been left without a shelter, Numz Adventure Island in Tinley Manor will host a family fun day on Wednesday, August 9 with all proceeds donated to the park.

Last week, The Courier reported that Ndlondlo Reptile Park’s Helen Bauermeister and Nevile Wolmarans, who have been servicing the Dolphin Coast for 12 years,  decided to relocate the park from their previous premises at Frasers, near the Dolphin Coast SPCA, to Palm Lakes Estate in Tinley Manor, when their investors pulled out without warning leaving them unable to renovate the new premises.

The now homeless reptiles which include snakes and crocodiles are currently being kept by Wolmarans and Bauermeister’s friends and at their own homes.

Realizing the reptile lover’s plight, Numz Adventure Island managing director Kim Blevin said they, along with Wolmarans and Bauermeister, wanted to find a way to get the community involved in raising funds to build an Eco Conservation and Education Centre.

“We open at 9.30 am and the day will include a presentation by Neville and Helen and at 10 am we plan to have a 5km fun walk on our beautiful trail.

“Walkers, joggers and even cyclists will return to a braai and they are welcome to bring their own picnic baskets,” said Blevin.

Children of all ages are promised to be kept busy with a range of sporting activities and outdoor games. Photobooths, reptile displays, market stalls, golf lessons and much more will be set up with the intention of raising enough money to get the reptile park back on its feet.

“Community is about supporting each other and Helen and Nevillehase put out an appeal for help. Let’s support them in making this possible.”

“All families supporting this initiative will be registered as VIP Supporters of the Ndlondlo Eco Education Centre and will qualify for a 25 % discount on all visits to the centre. ”

“We are offering naming rights for the Eco-Education Centre to the highest corporate bidder and so we are putting out a challenge to the businesses in the community to come forward and donate.”

Other activities include an auction and market stalls.

The fun auction is set to start at 1 pm.

The prizes include:

  • A snake awareness course.
  • Kiddies birthday party prize which includes a reptile show.
  • A reptile show for your child’s class.
