Deadly snake joins family at dinner table in Ballito
The family were completely unaware that they were sharing their dining room table with a deadly beauty.
Ready to join the family dinner, an uninvited green guest slithered under a dining room table in a Seaward Estate home yesterday afternoon.
Much to the family’s horror, it turned out to be one of the deadliest snakes around – a green mamba.
Snake catcher, Neville Wolmarans came to the rescue of the hungry intruder.
“The snake was a 1,35m long, female green mamba. She is in relatively good condition. We just need to check her faeces for evidence of parasites before releasing her to the coastal dune forest between Zinkwasi and Tugela mouth,” said Wolmarans.

He said the North Coast has been particularly “snakey” over the last month.
“We are seeing a number of larger specimens making an appearance. We rescued a large herald recently and there have been a few larger than average night adders and bush snakes.”
If you spot a snake, don’t take a chance and try catch it yourself, rather call Wolmarans on 082 561 4969.
