Dolphin Coast SPCA charity shop in desperate need

Empty shelves at the Dog Box is a sign of tough times ahead for The Dolphin Coast SPCA

The usual steady stream of donations to the SPCA charity shop in Ballito has once again all but dried up.

The Dolphin Coast SPCA relies heavily on the income generated by their charity shop – The Dog Box – that sells a treasure trove of second-hand goods.

After an article was published on The Courier’s website earlier this year about the dire need for donations, members of the community came to the rescue and an abundance of goods were donated, keeping the shop afloat.

Now the shop is running low on stock and volunteer Maggie Anderson is appealing to the public to reach into their hearts and dig deep in their cupboards to restock the shelves.

The Dog Box is situated on Jack Powell Road in the Boulevard Centre.

The store stocks every kind of second-hand goods, from clothes and bric a brac to books, glassware, jewellery, crockery and small furniture items.

The staff are all unpaid volunteers and the profits are used by the Dolphin Coast SPCA in the care of lost, injured, abused, unwanted and abandoned animals.

The shop is open from Monday to Friday from 10am till 4pm and on Saturdays from 9am till 12.30pm.

So empty your closet and head down to the Dog Box today.
