SA weather service issues storm warning

It looks like another rainy night on the Dolphin Coast - just do not get caught unawares if the weather turns nasty.

Yet another warning has been issued for severe weather on the KZN coast.

The SA Weather Service has warned that an intense cut-off low system is expected to cause storms tonight and tomorrow (Tuesday).

According to the Weather Service, severe thunderstorms have already been observed over western parts of KZN and are moving south-east. There is a possibility of hail, strong gusts of wind and heavy downpours.

While the forecast at the moment is that the worst of the storms will have passed the North Coast by tomorrow, the rain is expected to continue.

Beaches along the Dolphin Coast have been closed to swimmers and, according to KwaDukuza Lifeguard Supervisor Bongani Xulu, they will remain closed tomorrow.

“We will monitor the situation as it develops, but with the weather I expect the beaches to remain closed tomorrow.”

Beachgoers are reminded to follow the instructions of lifeguards and that a red flag flying on the beach means that it is closed to swimmers.

Meanwhile conditions on the roads are deteriorating as visibility decreases and more water comes down, there has already been an accident along the N2 near Zinkwazi – though details are still unclear. Drivers are urged to slow down and turn on their lights.
