Prayers for road accident victims
Families of the victims laid flowers at the scene of the accident.
A memorial prayer for 15 people who died in a bus crash in Maphumulo in April was held on Sunday.
The bus was travelling down the iSambaba hill towards Inkandla when it overturned after its brakes failed in the Ntunjambili area.
The ‘healing of the wounds’ prayer was held at eNtunjambili Sportsfield, and was led by Department of Transport, Community Safety, and Liaison MEC Mxolisi Kaunda as part of transport month.
Families of the victims laid flowers at the scene of the accident.

The event started with Kaunda and Maphumulo mayor Zibuyisile Khuzwayo-Dlamini putting up road signage on the main road (P15) as part of creating awareness on signage importance and its impact on road safety.
“Road awareness should begin in our homes, where we encourage each other as family members to obey the rules of the roads. We should not allow a vehicle that is not roadworthy to be used on the roads because it will cause accidents,” said Kaunda.
Dlamini urged all drivers to drive with caution and obey the rules of the roads.
“I also urge passengers to be vigilant and not allow vehicles and drivers who are not in a good driving state to transport you, because it is your lives that are at stake. We pray that the Almighty protects us on our roads,” said Dlamini.
