Thumbs up for Rotary health days
Little ones who had their immunisations for the first time squealed in pain while their parents expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the healthcare providers
Thousands of people streamed into the Nkobongo Community Hall for free health care services courtesy of the Rotary Family Health Day recently.
The fifth annual rotary event offered by the Rotary Club of Zimbali took place from October 3 to October 5 and provided services like HIV counselling, testing, screening for TB, diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, Vitamin A supplementation and immunisations.
This year, the health department’s focus was the ‘She Conquers’ campaign which focused on reaching young girls and woman.

Zimbali Rotary Club president Julie Cloete said the event held in conjunction with the department of health was a massive success.
For many, it was their first and only opportunity for proper health care check-ups.
Little ones who had their immunisations for the first time squealed in pain while their parents expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the healthcare providers.
One of the mothers, Julia Dumuzamo said she loved the warmth she received from the healthcare workers.
“Sometimes when you go you clinics or hospitals, there’s always a rush and people are rude and you are scared to even ask questions. All the people here are helpful and they are happy to explain things about my health to me.”
