UPDATE: Petition launched against pay parking system
The online petition has so far had over 1700 signatures

The Dolphin Coast community are taking a stand against the implementation of a pay parking system by the KwaDukuza municipality.
The system, launched by KwaDukuza mayor Ricardo Mthembu two weeks ago will see motorists pay R6 an hour for public parking bays in Stanger, Shakaskraal, Umhlali and Ballito from November 1.

No concessions have been made for full time employees who have no choice to use the public bays for about 8 hours a day while they are at work. This will see some workers pay up to R960 a month – an amount that many cannot afford.
One of the affected employees, Privi Naidoo, who is based at the business centre in Sandra Road, Ballito, has started a petition against the system that she claims to be predjuced against full time workers.
UPDATE: Ratepayers call for pay parking boycott
“In a matter of a few days, the hardcopy of the petition got around 200 signatures, which includes signatures from businesses around Ballito and Umhlali.
“The online petition has so far had over 1700 signatures,” she said.
