“We need a pedestrian crossing”
Ward six councillor Tammy Colley said she had reported the issue to the transport department but had not received a response.

In the past three months, at least six people have been knocked down by vehicles on the P445, crossing between the Ballito Junction and the new taxi rank.
Many commuters ignore the street crossing at the traffic lights in their rush to get to and from the rank and are calling for a pedestrian bridge or crossings closer to the mall gates.
“I don’t use the street lights because it’s far from the taxi rank entrance.
“I prefer to cross at the middle of the road, especially if I am carrying my groceries,” said Themba Khuzwayo from Ntshawini.

Zinhle Magwaza from Nkobongo believes that a pedestrian bridge could be a solution.
“Put up a pedestrian bridge and have only one pedestrian exit gate at the Junction. That will force people to use the bridge because if you have more than one gate, some people will say the bridge is far from the gates and not use it,” said Magwaza.
