Warning issued over spring tide weekend

The spring tide will be at it's peak today (Saturday) during the full moon.

Beach goers are urged to be extra cautious along the coast during the full moon spring tide this weekend.
The spring tide will be at it’s peak today (Saturday) during the full moon.
KwaDukuza lifeguard supervisor Bongani Xulu said the spring tide sees extremely high tides and extremely low tides.
“We urge the public to only use beaches where there are lifeguards and to adhere to what the lifeguards say.
“They are trained to know when there could be a problem.
“The National Sea Rescue Institute released a statement saying that rip currents are one of the greatest causes of drowning accidents.

“Bathers, people walking along the coastline and shoreline anglers are most at risk during a spring tide and extreme caution is advised.
