Positive start for NarcAnon
A door was opened in Ballito over the weekend for people struggling with addiction.

The first meeting of the Ballito Narcotics Anonymous (NA) group took place in the Ballito Library on Saturday.
The meeting saw a good turnout, with more than 30 people attending including a few members of the Durban NA Fellowship.
There were also several other organisations from the area that have agreed to cooperate with NA to encourage their patients, members and those they help to attend the meetings in the future.
What was particularly encouraging were the ten new members attending their very first NA meeting.
Addiction and substance abuse were discussed and stories shared about the struggles addicts had endured.
The meeting ended on a very positive note and afterwards the group went out to have some pizza together.
NA is a non-profit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs have become a major problem.
Each fellowship is made up of recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean. There are no dues or fees and the only requirement for membership is the desire to stop using.
The message taken from the meeting was simple: you don’t have to wait for an overdose or jail sentence to get help from NA, nor is addiction a hopeless condition from which there is no recovery.
It is possible to overcome the desire to use drugs with the help of the Twelve Step program of Narcotics Anonymous and the fellowship of recovering addicts.
For those that could not make it to the meeting, they will be held every Saturday from 5pm to 6.15pm at the Ballito Municipal Library, as well as at Umdloti Library on Sundays from 4.30pm to 5.30pm.
