KwaDukuza lifeguard supervisor Bongani Xulu, said his team is on high alert and expect floods, storms and huge swells.

“The beaches would probably be reopened on Friday but that depends on the weather.”

Xulu said the KZN Sharksboard had lifted the shark nets due to the dangerous conditions.

“Lifeguards will be on duty and they will be patrolling the beaches to make sure that no one is swimming. We urge the public to adhere to the rules and to listen to the lifeguards.”
