ENTER: Hunting big fish and treasure down at the dam!

The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund and Trappers Ballito will be hosting a family day with a treasure hunt at the Dudley Pringle dam on Sunday, December 17.

It’s time to dust off those fishing rods, get your braai and picnic blanket ready and sharpen up the Sherlock Holmes in you.

The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund and Trappers Ballito will be hosting a family day with a treasure hunt at the Dudley Pringle dam on Sunday, December 17.

The event will give the fisherman a rare opportunity to test their skills in what is widely considered to be one of the best bass fishing dams in KZN (with other species like tilapia and catfish also plentiful).

Fishing is strictly catch and release.

All anglers (boat or shore) can take a break from their fishing to participate in the Trappers Treasure Hunt that will take place from 9am to 10am.

“Hunters” can win some great prizes in the two age categories – up to 8 years old and over 8.

There will also be lots of lucky draw prizes and a raffle to win a weekend away.

“The Trappers brand is all about equipping people to get out in nature and explore. The fact that we could combine this with giving back to our community by partnering with the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund just made it a perfect match for us,” said Louis Kotze manager at Trappers Ballito.

To fish and/or participate in the treasure hunt you have to be registered as a bank or watercraft angler.

Families are welcome to come and spend the morning braaiing or picnicking under the trees if they have at least one person registered as an angler.

There will also be food, cooldrinks and water for sale.

The cost is R100 per bank angler and R150 per watercraft angler with all proceeds going towards the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund – please visit www.courierorphanfund.co.za to see the work that the fund does. Kick boats and paddle skis are allowed but no motors whatsoever and a maximum of two people per watercraft.
