Teachers take flight

Local teachers received bursaries from Sembcorp Siza Water last Wednesday to the combined value of R88 500.

The dream of obtaining a level four early childhood teaching certificate is now within the grasp of eight local township creche teachers.

The teachers received bursaries from Sembcorp Siza Water last Wednesday to the combined value of R88 500.

Three of the teachers are from Shaka’s Head, three from Shayamoya and two from Nkobongo.

They will be studying at SANTS Private Higher Education Institution and Training and Resources in Early Education(TREE).

Lucy Mavundla(22) who is a caretaker at the Ntokozweni Creche in Nkobongo was almost speechless with delight.

“I do not have a tertiary qualification and by getting this bursary, I will at least get a certificate for myself. We are very grateful for the help we received from Semcorb Siza Water,” said Mavundla.

Shayamoya councilor John Phahla encouraged them to ensure they completed the course.

“You must not forget that there were other people who wanted to get these bursaries but they were not fortunate as you were,” said Phahla.
