Robbers hit Litchi Orchard – Salt Rock

Umhlali SAPS spokesperson Vinny Pillay said three stores had been burgled.

Despite the arrest of a gang targeting the Dolphin Coast on Friday night, the popular attraction, the Litchi Orchard in Salt Rock was broken into in the early hours of this morning, December 17.

Three days earlier Linc church, just down the road from the Litchi Orchard, was also burgled.

Umhlali SAPS spokesperson Vinny Pillay said it was so far reported that three stores – Scoop, Yoli’s Artisan Breads and Pastries and Delish Sisters were victims of the thieves’ latest activities.

“The police are currently at the venue, where they will see if there are any further reports of break-ins.”

Owner of Scoop, a store that supplies handmade ice cream, Amanda Maidman said money was taken from her store and that she was still calculating the stolen amount.

“My till drawer was taken along with my float and some takings.”

The Litchi Orchard is a functioning litchi farm and home to a number of restaurants, quaint stores and a nursery.

The venue is also popular for its mid-month farmers markets and month end night markets.
