A nine-year-old boy had a brush with death when he was shot at during a robbery in La Mercy, Tongaat on Saturday. Emergency Control SA’s Ishmail Mitha said five armed robbers in a red Golf 5 with an NT registration approached the house in Eden Rose Walk which also runs as a Montessori school.

UPDATE: Child survives La Mercy shooting

The nine-year-old boy who was shot during a house robbery in La Mercy yesterday is recovering well after he underwent an emergency operation on Saturday night. The boy’s uncle, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the child, said the bullet had caused damage to the young boy’s abdomen and intestines.
