All set and ready to go at KwaDukuza Private Hospital
It will be the first private hospital in the growing town.
The new KwaDukuza Private Hospital (KPH) is set to open its doors in less than a month after it was delayed for about six months.
KPH manager Ravi Manilal said the fully equipped hospital is set to open on March.
It will be the first private hospital in the growing town as currently, the nearest private health facility in Stanger is almost 30 kilometres away at the Alberlito Hospital in Ballito.
Situated on Theunissen Road, the 70-bed hospital will offer a variety of healthcare options including general services, dentistry, ENT and neurology.
There will be specialist consulting suites, three fully equipped operating theatres, 24-hour casualty and emergency services, radiology, pathology, a hospital pharmacy, a retail pharmacy and a coffee shop.
The hospital’s opening was delayed when they were unable to get their occupational certificate.
However, Manilal said they would be opening with a temporary occupation certificate and that the hospital was 95 percent complete.
“We still have a few things to fix but we are almost there. At the moment we have 12 doctors and we are all getting ready for March 5”
After the ANC Youth League in the greater KwaDukuza region stormed the facility last week, demanding jobs, Manilal confirmed that he will be recruiting as the hospital grows.
“To open, we have recruited 50 percent of the staff. That means for a 70-bed facility, we are catering for 35 patients. We will recruit as the demand grows and we are still considering the Youth League’s demands.”
