Parents shut down Nkobongo school – Shakaskraal
While parents blocked access to the school, pupils protested on the opposite end of the road, demanding that they do not disrupt their education.

Disgruntled parents shut down Dinuphozo Primary School in Nkobongo, calling for the education department to fire the principal.
About 70 parents protested outside the Shakaskraal school from 4 am this morning, burning tyres and barricading the road claiming that the principal, Prudence Vilakazi is corrupt.

According to them, she was suspended on Monday until an investigation was done regarding the allegations.
However, the woman who has been at the school since it opened in 2010, returned on Tuesday and reportedly told children that their parents were stupid and would not remove her.

One of the parents Philani Pityo, told the Courier the problem stemmed when the Vilakazi did not follow proper processes during the election student governing body last week.
He said a meeting was then held with the parents, ward councillor, principal and the education department at the Nkobongo Hall this Monday.
“She elected her own people to represent the parents, she does not take care of the school, she hires unqualified teachers to teach our children and then she teaches our children to stand up against us.”
While parents blocked access to the school, pupils protested on the opposite end of the road, demanding that they do not disrupt their education. Angry children threatened to stone the adults unless they moved.
Police had to physically stop them from doing so.
Education department circuit manager T Ninela attempted to calm the situation.
He asked the pupils to go home, saying that the environment was not safe for them.
