Orphan Fund now a MySchool beneficiary

More than 1,2 million South Africans have a MySchool card and The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund has now officially been added to the list of beneficiaries.

The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund fundraising co-ordinator June Mdolo said being an official beneficiary is a wonderful achievement.

“We are so excited and really privileged to be a beneficiary of the long-standing MySchool programme. Donating this way makes it easier for the community to give back to causes that are close to their hearts – especially when they cannot be involved hands-on,” said Mdlolo.

The MySchool programme was started in 1997 by a Johannesburg based parent who wanted to help his child’s school raise more funds in an easy and sustainable manner. Woolworths became the programme’s main partner and later bought out the whole business and MySchool, MyVillage, MyPlanet became part of the Woolworths group.

If you already have a MySchool card, Mdlolo said you can still add the Orphan Fund as a beneficiary.

“Each card allows up to three beneficiaries.”

To add a beneficiary, follow one of these four options:

• Go to any Woolworths store and ask for assistance at their customer service counter
• Add the beneficiary online at www.myschool.co.za
• Via the MySchool App, which can be downloaded for free from Google Play Store or Apple App Store
• Phone MySchool at 0860 100 445 between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday excluding public holidays.

If you do not yet have a MySchool card, sign up at no charge at any Woolworths customer service counter or get a virtual MySchool card for free on the app.

Besides Woolies, you can use your MySchool card at any Engen, Bidvest Waltons, Flight Centre or at Loot.co.za
Every time you swipe your card, a percentage of your total purchase price is given back to the organisations you support.

For example Woolworths gives back from 0,2 – 1 percent depending on the spend and Engen and Flight Centre give back one percent each.

All these transactions are recorded and a statement is sent to individual supporters on a monthly basis.

The supporter card is not a credit or debit card but simply tracks transactions and funds raised.
