UPDATE: Umfolozi students refuse to back down
The students were camping at the college until they were forced out by police.
The Umfolozi TVET College, Chief Albert Luthuli Campus in Groutville remains closed with students demanding answers to their complaints.
The college has been at a standstill since Friday, April 13, because students have not received accommodation and transport allowance that was supposed to have been paid by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).
Thrown out on the street by their landlords after not being able to pay their rent, the students were camping at the college until they were forced out by police.

The college marketing manager, Bhekani Ndlovu, said the college had offered to pay the allowance and recoup the money when NSFAS pays in August.
However the students had rejected the offer.
SRC president Nkanyiso Nxumalo said the college had promised the same last year, but payment had not been received.
“We cannot be doing the same thing every year and we also want answers about the other issues we raised,” said Nxumalo.
Besides the accommodation issue, students also accusing the college of failing to provide them with WiFi for assignment research.
The say that computers and the library are in poor condition and some students had not received textbooks.
