WATCH: Fifth private school breaks ground in Ballito

The announcement of its opening in January 2019 has sent many parents scrambling to reserve a spot for their children.

Exciting times lie ahead for the education of the Dolphin Coast’s youngsters as work begins on the grounds for Reddam House Ballito.

The new school is being built behind the Ballito Junction and announcement of its opening in January 2019 has sent many parents scrambling to reserve a spot for their children.

The opening of Reddam House will bring to five the number of private schools in the area.

“We approach education from a child-centred point of view,” said Reddam House founder Graeme Crawford.

“From the school’s infrastructure to its teachers and timetable, the children’s needs come first.

In an interview with the Courier, Crawford said they build their schools on the three pillars of academics, creativity/culture and sport.

“Naturally academics are our strongest pillar, but we try to give equal emphasis to all three, as each imparts different life skills.”

Crawford has taken the Reddam House philosophy worldwide and they now have schools in 12 countries.

“It is exciting to be able to bring together the best practices from all these countries and combine them to make the educational strategy that is uniquely ours and prepares children to become functioning, successful citizens of the world.”

Reddam House founder Graeme Crawford turns the sod on the construction of their new school in Ballito.

Crawford, who was the founder of the two Crawford schools on the North Coast and Durban North, said they had chosen Ballito because they believed in the growth of the Dolphin Coast.

The new school’s first phase will see them open in January with, among other facilities: college buildings, sports facilities and a rugby oval, tennis courts, a library, a theatre and modern science laboratories.

Later phases will see a full junior and senior primary school, Olympic pool, astro fields and multiple other improvements.
