Sand, sun and salty fun

The ever growing Salt Rock Nippers Club is completely run by volunteers and builds great community spirit.

It was all salty splashing and sandy racing as the Salt Rock Nippers Club had their challenge day on Salt Rock beach last Sunday.

Salt Rock residents Debbie and her husband Kyle Nicholson have been helping in the running of the club and said it was a healthy form of entertainment that teaches the kids important life skills.

“Respect the ocean, stay calm, wear sun cream and leave no man behind. That is the motto we teach the Nippers. The kids learn how to be safe in the water, love the ocean, save our environment and most importantly have fun outdoors,” said Debbie.

The Nippers club runs from October to the end of May every year and had just over 100 registered kids between four and fourteen years old in this last season.

The ever growing club is completely run by volunteers and builds great community spirit.

“We so appreciate the support we have received from our sponsors including Come Fly, Crocodile Creek, 10 uit 10 Skryfbehoeftes, Tuwa, Salt Rock Liquor City, Surfers, Afros, Mo-Zam-Bik, Ocean Basket, Sugar Rush, Sugar Rats, Jump Park, 22 Jump Street, Salt Rock Surf Shop, O’Neil, Shine Salon and Siggis. We always need more sponsors to come on board to help keep the club going.”

If you or your business would like to sponsor the rash vests with branding, assist with the maintenance of the clubhouse or donate money towards the Salt Rock Nippers Club, contact Debbie at 082 290 9313 or send a mail to debs.nicholson@gmail.com.
