Talking about sex
About 60 young people from Dolphin Coast townships were encouraged to regularly test for HIV/AIDS and TB at their nearest clinics.
he old adage ‘prevention is better than cure’ was the driving motive behind the Youth Awareness Day recently hosted by the Ballito Clinic.
About 60 young people from Dolphin Coast townships were encouraged to regularly test for HIV/AIDS and TB at their nearest clinics and to always use protection should they choose not to abstain from sex.

The theme was taken up by budding poets who strove to motivate the audience to make good decisions for the future.
Sister Nondumiso Mulongo, who is in charge of the youth-friendly unit at the Ballito Clinic, said her job was to ensure that young people were given the correct treatment and the support that they needed.
“At every clinic, there is a nurse who is trained to deal with the youth from the age of 10 to 24.
“Use those nurses for your own benefit. If there are things you feel uncomfortable talking about with your parents, or you need a second opinion, come to the clinic and ask for me or go to any other clinic and ask for the youth-friendly unit nurse.
“I promise that we will be able to give you support and advise you correctly,” said Mulongo.
