GriefShare support group at Umhlali Methodist Church

This 13 week course is a nondenominational programme and features biblical concepts for healing from your grief.

After the funeral, when the cards and flowers have stopped coming, most of the people around you return to their normal lives, but your grief continues and you may feel alone.

Often, friends and family want to help you, but do not know how. That’s the reason for GriefShare.

The group is led by caring people who have experienced grief in different ways, and are there to support and walk beside you on the long path through grief towards healing and hope for the future.

Those who take part will support and learn from each other through hearing different stories of pain and grief.

Taking place at the Umhlali Methodist Church from Wednesday, 25 July, this 13 week course is a nondenominational programme and features biblical concepts for healing from your grief.

Although the programme is Christian based, everyone is welcome to take part.

Sessions will be held every Wednesday morning from 9am to 11.30am, OR for those who are unable to meet in the morning, there will be an evening session on Thursdays from 5.30pm to 8pm.

There are three key parts to the GriefShare experience:

  1. Video seminar – encouraging, information packed videos featuring leading grief recovery experts.
  2. Support Group – small group discussion about the weekly video content.
  3. Workbook – journalling and personal study exercises that reinforce the weekly session topics. This Workbook is purchased by the participant when they join the course for R120.

Those who would like to take part, are welcome to begin attending the group sessions at any point.
