A new kindergarten has come to town, offering the values of environmental sustainability tied in with an internationally recognised curriculum.
Arbour School, situated in Chakas Rock, is headed by the dynamic Vimaan and Raksha Singh, whose goals are to use the skills they picked up from living in Dubai to better the local education system.

“Arbour School is an eco-friendly kindergarten that aims to instill values and morals into children from a young age so that it can grow with them. We are encouraging children to be eco-friendly and use their knowledge to give society something to benefit from, because this is the future.”
With the school being half complete, Raksha, who has 11 years experience in early childhood development, said they are accepting registrations.
They aim to officially launch the school on September 1.

“We relocated back to South Africa three months ago and we want to give back to the community by introducing some of the international skills and values that we have learned abroad.
“We have merged four curriculums that include a new concept called STAM which stands for science, technology, art and mathematics. Along with other internationally recognised curriculums we also have the popular Montessori.”
Being an engineer by trade, Vimaan has been actively involved in using recycled materials to build some of the school’s facilities, which he says is leading by example.
The pair has also been involved in community initiatives that focus on early childhood development.
Speaking at the school’s tree planting ceremony last week, KwaDukuza deputy mayor Dolly Govender welcomed the new school.
“A strong foundation starts from a grassroots level and reaches its full potential through the years. We appreciate this couple going abroad and bringing their cultural learning through from Dubai to instill those values here.
‘We are fully in support of the concept as government’s key priority is education and preparing children to reach the next level.”
