Bigger and better at Ashton College

The school is eagerly awaiting the new 2000-seater hall which is currently under construction on the right of the M4 going towards Ballito.

What started out as a little school with 437 pupils in 2010 has now become an impressive five-star education facility with 1346 pupils – and they are not done yet.

Ashton International College has painted Ballito red and will soon boast bigger and better facilities.

The school is eagerly awaiting the new 2000-seater hall which is currently under construction on the right of the M4 going towards Ballito.

The new, smaller theatre will be an excellent space for pupils to learn and perform.

Ashton CEO André Buys said the hall will be ready for use at the start of next year and feature all the bells and whistles.

“This multi-purpose hall will also function as an internationally sized indoor hockey arena and will offer a 120-seater tiered theatre for smaller productions and performance studies.

“The hall will be equipped with the most modern technology including a 11×5 metre 3D LED screen and state-of-the-art sound system,” said Buys.

An artist impression The Consumer Studies Centre will be an ultra-modern facility geared towards making learning even more interactive and interesting.

They will also be adding Dance as a subject to their IEB curriculum.

The private school is proud to be almost 50% off the grid, depending on the weather, thanks to their solar panels and actions to reduce their carbon dioxide emissions, which earned them a gold certificate for being an ‘eco school’.

Ashton’s executive head Joe Erasmus said the growth of the school has been phenomenal and could not have been done without the community.

“We have basically been a building site since 2010 when we started with the removal of two park homes and the first upgrades to the campus.

“As we improved, the community started showing confidence in our school and the numbers started increasing. I say with passion, compassion and the grace of God that we have truly been blessed,” said Erasmus.
