Painting Ballito pink for CANSA

A number of Ballito residents have already joined in by adding a bright pink touch to their gardens - join them!

Add a little spunk to your garden or doll up with an ever-so-trendy doek and show your support for women and families affected by cancer by taking part in the Cancer Association of South Africa’s (CANSA) 2018 campaign.

The Pink Trees for Pauline (PTFP), in association with CANSA, is inviting all clubs, workplaces, schools or individuals this month to wrap their trees in bright pink fabric OR embrace their latest campaign, #doekwithadifference – all for a good cause.

The campaign is a natural extension of the PTFP slogan: “Wrapped in colour, united in hope” and aims to raise funds specifically for care and support programmes for cancer patients and those affected by cancer.

A number of Ballito residents have already joined in by adding a bright pink touch to their gardens.

Ballito resident Mickey Ruthven-Hawley is calling on the community to play their part for those in need.

“Let’s decorate Ballito in pink to raise awareness and help people with cancer who are in need of funds,” said Ruthven-Hawley.

The campaign is a natural extension of the PTFP slogan: “Wrapped in colour, united in hope”.

“We’re very excited about the new addition for 2018,” said Adri Jansen van Nieuwenhuizen, managing director from PTFP.

#doekwithadifference (a head wrap or scarf) is available in pink and green and will be sold to raise funds at R70 each.

“We’re hoping to turn heads and bring awareness to the challenges and issues facing many people fighting cancer and their right to access cancer treatment.”

In addition – individuals and companies can still show their support by buying the pink fabric at R25 per metre and wrapping trees in their local towns and communities.

Contact your local CANSA care centre (Durban – 031 2059525) to place your doek (R70) or fabric (R25) order. The recommended length of fabric is 2 metres and the material needs to be removed at the end of the campaign (31 October).

CANSA uses all funds raised from the campaign towards accommodation for patients during cancer treatment, home-based care nursing, feeding schemes for cancer affected patients and training social workers and also for supplying wigs, prosthesis and wheelchairs.
