Looking after Luthuli’s legacy

The unveiling of the bench was coupled by a dialogue session.

A memorial bench at the Luthuli Museum in Groutville was unveiled on Friday by the US Consul General Sherry Sykes, Chief Albert’s daughter, Dr Albertinah Luthuli and Luthuli Museum council chairperson Important Mkhize.

This follows a visit to the museum by the U.S Consulate in June where a tree was planted in honour of the historic meeting between Robert Kennedy and Albert Luthuli in 1966.

They met and discussed the liberation struggle just a year before Chief Luthuli’s mysterious death in 1967.

The unveiling of the bench was coupled by a dialogue session entitled, ‘The role of the youth in continuing the legacy of Senator Robert F Kennedy and Chief Albert Luthuli’ that happened after an interesting keynote address by US Consul General Sherry Sykes.
