KZN Sharks Board crew member suffers heart attack at sea – Zinkwazi

The 50-year-old man was airlifted to hospital.

A routine trip to sea took an unexpected turn when a member of the KZN Sharks Board suffered a heart attack this morning.

IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst said the man was busy with routine offshore shark net duties when he became ill.

The skipper of the vessel called for help and paramedics met the vessel at Zinkwazi beach.

Herbst said the paramedics discovered that he was experiencing an acute cardiac emergency.

The patient was airlifted to hospital.

KZN Sharks Board operations manager Mike Anderson Reade said the 50 year old man underwent a bypass and was now on his way to recovery.
